Capt, I've not followed the character build - it seemed a bit too specialised and I went for a more all round build. I'm no-where near getting Maco stuff so that's good to know as I'm almost Tier 1 Omega thanks to the Borg dailies. RSP has helped me out of a few jams when I Leroy Jenkins something as my Feddie is Tac not Eng/Sci. What set would you recommend instead? I'm almost Tier 3 Nukara, but it seems popular consensus is the Nukara ground gear is much better than space gear and I'm looking for the next rep project. Of the recommended consoles, all I have is the 3 Tac + Plasma Dmg consoles and the RCS, I would say I quite like having RCS for the manoueverability, it suits my playstyle - I do have a neut sitting around so I might try and put that in tonight and see if I like the difference. Resilient shields vs Covariant - gotcha I don't disagree that RSP is super good - it's just not needed. Maybe if you are a tac, and don't use at least one neutronium, you might find that you want a little shield boosting here and there. Otherwise, it seems like leaving dps on the table. If you find you need the extra survivability, then take it. As for sets, as jandrese stated, the 2 piece assimilated bonus is really boss. Most people use the engine and deflector, even if they don't like the deflectors stats - just for the two piece. Add to that the regular MACO Resilient shield. People tend to move away from the MACO Resilient to the Fleet Elite if they are running the Plasmonic Leech. Surprise surprise, there is a bug that makes PL and the MACO Resilient power lever increaser proc not work properly. That may be fixed someday, or, it may not. To expound a little further on Resilient vs Covariant - Covariant are useful in pvp, although certainly not more useful then Resilient. Large piles of shields can help you defend against alpha strikes or big bursts of damage from shear amount of shield hp. Resilient benefit in the same way that they do in pve. So they are both useful. Although, it's not that hard to die in pvp with nearly full shields, just from taking a beating on your hull. Whereas in pve, it's all about outstripping the average incoming damage with shield hardening and regeneration. The resilient completely block a small portion of this damage (which in the long term makes it really good) whereas the piles of sp don't really help if you are under constant low level pressure which your regen can't keep up with. It will just postpone your lack of shield state by a few extra seconds. Black ice mod. Isn't the Adapted MACO just a renamed and reskinned version of the Klingon Honor Guard set? January 26 in The Art of Star Trek Online Normally my Klingon toon wears the Bortasque uniform, but today I decided I wanted to wear my Honor Guard uniform. It's a great uniform, with shiny armor plating in places, like the helmet and wrist attachments, and maybe even the boots. Yeah, which means you get a 25% bonus to torpedo damage. The engine offers a nice boost to power levels, too. So Shield / Engine isn't a bad idea for PVE, especially against the alternatives. Don't get me wrong, I'm running the 2pc + myself right now. But the set isn't terrible, even if it's running a Covariant shield instead of a Resilient shield. The 25% torpedo damage is okay, but, without consoles or skills to boost your torps (and you shouldn't have either in an a2b cruiser), 25% of a small number is still a small number. The torpedo and accompanying torp spread ability serve the dual purpose of preventing a worthless ens slot, and relieving a tiny bit of the energy pressure from all those beams while still dealing a little bit of damage. Enhancing that little bit of damage isn't a terrible idea, but it's not going to add a lot to your dps. The engine power boosts are the exact same power boosts that come on the elite engine. The modifier [POW] gives the same boosts.
